1. On the invitation of Shri Hardeep S. Puri Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Housing and Urban Affairs of the Government of India, H.E. Mr. Flavien P. Joubert, Minister of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment of the Republic of Seychelles participated in the India Energy Week 2024 along with a delegation comprising Mr. Joel Emmanuel Valmont, Chief Executive Officer, Public Utilities Corporation and Mr. Bernice Xavielle Anne Charles, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Seychelles Energy Commission. 


2. The IEW 2024 was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on February 6, 2024. The event was build on the year-long comprehensive dialogues during the G20 Presidency and provided an opportunity to deliberate on future course of action on the pledges taken at COP28.


3. Minister Joubert participated in the panel discussion of “South-South Cooperation: Energy for Inclusive Growth”. The delegation from Seychelles participated in several brainstorming sessions including the plenary session, accelerate action on energy security and climate commitments, and reliable and affordable energy market, etc.


4. Minister Puri and Minister Joubert also had fruitful discussions on collaborations opportunities in energy transition and exploration of oil and gas. Seychelles has agreed to join the Global Biofuels Alliance.


5. The first edition of the “INDIA ENERGY WEEK” was held last year in Bengaluru from February 6-8, 2023, wherein H.E. Mr. Jean-Francois Ferrari, the Designated Minister and the Minister for Blue Economy and Fisheries of the Republic of Seychelles had participated along with a 2 member delegation.
