High Commission of India organised a gala cultural programme at the ICCS Auditorium on 9 th August to celebrate the upcoming 77 th Independence Day of India. The hour-long programme included performances of popular Indian dance forms such as Bharatanatayam, Kuchipudi, Odissi and Garba in addition to vocal and instrumental performances. The performances were prepared by members of the Indian diaspora.
2. The High Commission also awarded prizes to the winners of “Yoga My Pride” competition organised on the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2023. Prizes were also given for the Art competition on the theme “What freedom/independence means to me” organised on the occasion of India’s Independence Day. An exhibition showcasing winning entries from the ‘Yoga My Pride’ photography contest and art competition were also displayed in the lobby at ICCS.
3. Conveying Independence Day greetings to the members of Indian diaspora and friends of India present on the occasion, High Commissioner of India, Mr Kartik Pande spoke about the journey of India’s progress since Independence and the ever important position she occupies in the world today, while also highlighting the warm and cordial India-Seychelles relations.
4. The various performances were prepared by members of the Indian diaspora and appreciated by an audience of 400 people including Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs & Tourism in the Government of Seychelles H.E. Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, senior officials of Government of Seychelles, members of the diplomatic corps, Indian diaspora and local Seychellois.
