The High Commission of India and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism signed 2 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) pertaining to 3 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) on Mahe Island. The projects will be undertaken through grant provided to the Government of Seychelles by the Government of India. The MoUs were by Indian High Commissioner ShriKartikPande, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism H.E. MrSylvestreRadegonde, Minister of Local Government H.E. Ms Rose Marie Hoareau& Minister of Lands and Housing H.E. Mr Billy Rangasamy.
2. Three projects under the MoUs involve renovation at Mont Fleuri Secondary School, English River Secondary School and Plaisance Primary School respectively. This will be the second phase of renovation at schools under the HICDPs grant extended by India. The other three projects include construction of Upper Petit Paris Road in Cascade and construction of motorable access roads in Anse aux Pin and Pointe Larue. The total cost of all these projects is SCR 7.5 million and these will be financed by the Government of India, bringing benefit to the local communities.
3. India and Seychelles enjoy warm and cordial relations. India is a trusted development partner of Seychelles and the 3 MoUs signed today will further consolidate bilateral development cooperation.
