ITEC Day 2023 Celebrated in Seychelles
1.The High Commission of India celebrated the 59th ITEC Day on 21 December 2023 in the form of an Alumni Meet at the Savoy Resort in Mahe. The theme of the event was “Sharing Knowledge for a Shared Future”. The event was attended by the Designated Minister and Minister of Blue Economy and Fisheries, Mr Jean-Francois Ferrari. Over 50 ITEC alumni participated and shared their experiences of ITEC training in India. Auditor General of Seychelles, Mr Gamini Herath, an illustrious ITEC alumnus himself, also shared a video address describing his experience in India.
2. High Commissioner Shri Kartik Pande addressed the gathering emphasizing on the significance of ITEC as a platform for knowledge-sharing, capacity building and development partnership guided by the developmental requirements of Seychelles. Minister Ferrari thanked India for capacity building assistance under ITEC in their speeches at the event referring that hundreds of young Seychellois professionals have made good use of the program till date under both civil and defence courses.
3. The presentations given by the ITEC alumni outlined their engagement in diverse courses such as general accounting, auditing, electoral management and teachers training and research. They expressed their delight in experiencing the culture and cuisine of India as well. At the end of the event, the speakers were felicitated and this was followed by a group photograph and reception for all attendees.
4. The ITEC Program remains one of the most impactful capacity building initiative in Seychelles. From 1985 to 2023 over 1000 civil and defence course slots have been utilized by Seychellois citizens. The program is another symbol of the warm and cordial bilateral ties shared by India and Seychelles.
