INS Teg and Daredevils participate in
Seychelles National Day Celebrations
INS Teg, one of the three Teg-class guided missile frigates of Indian Navy, participated in Seychelles’ 49th National Day Celebrations. A 21-men marching contingent, ship’s band, and separately, Indian Army’s Daredevils motorcycle team took part in the National Day Parade on 29 June 2025.
2. During INS Teg’s four-day port call to Seychelles, Commanding Officer (CO) Captain Vikas Guleria paid courtesy calls on H.E. Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism; Major General Michael Rosette, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF); and Mr. Kartik Pande, High Commissioner of India to Seychelles.
3. On 28 June 2025, a reception was hosted onboard INS Teg by High Commissioner and CO. The event was graced by CDF, senior ministers from the Government of Seychelles, members of the diplomatic corps, senior officers of the Seychelles Defence Forces, and prominent members of Indian diaspora.
4. As part of goodwill engagements and to mark Seychelles’ National Day celebrations, INS Teg conducted a special onboard yoga session, welcoming local citizens to participate, strengthening cultural connects between two countries. The ship also welcomed visitors onboard, offering them a glimpse into the world of naval operations and maritime diplomacy.
5. The breathtaking performance by the 35-member Indian Army Daredevils Motorcycle Display Team, led by Captain Ashish Rana became special highlight of the National Day festivities. Their incredible display of precision, balance, and courage captivated the audience and was warmly received by the people of Seychelles. This was the second visit of the Daredevils team to Seychelles, the first being in 2015.
6. INS Teg is a guided missile frigate based at Mumbai under the Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy. The Ship is designed to undertake a plethora of fleet support operations including Anti-Piracy Patrols, Coastal and offshore Patrolling, Monitoring Sea Lines of Communication, Exclusive Economic Zone surveillance, protection of offshore assets, Humanitarian And Disaster Response and logistics support operations among others. The vessel’s participation in National Day celebrations illustrates the robust defence relations between India and Seychelles built on mutual trust and sharing of technical expertise for capacity building.
7. The Indian Army’s Motor Cycle Riders display Team, the Daredevils of corps of Signals is the oldest performing Despatch Rider Display team. The team has been splendidly winning accolades for its performances ever since its inception in 1935. Over the years, the team has added many laurels to its credit including 33 world records registered on its name recognized by GUINNESS and LIMCA book of world records, Asia and India book of records.
