Hon'ble Vice President of India Concludes Successful Official Visit
to the Republic of Seychelles

          The Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, concluded a productive two-day official visit to the Republic of Seychelles from October 26-27, 2025. Hon’ble Vice President represented the Government of India at the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Patrick Herminie, the President of Republic of Seychelles and to further deepen and strengthen the time-tested partnership between the two Indian Ocean maritime neighbours.​
2.       Community Reception: Hon’ble Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan was accorded a warm reception by members of the vibrant Indian community in Seychelles. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the long-standing, multi-faceted ties between India and Seychelles, and lauded the Indian diaspora’s role in further strengthening bilateral relations.
3.       Swearing-in Ceremony: Hon’ble Vice President attended the swearing-in ceremony of H.E. Dr. Patrick Herminie as the 6th President of the Republic of Seychelles at Unity Stadium in Victoria. He conveyed greetings on behalf of the Government and people of India.​​
4.       Bilateral Meeting: Hon’ble Vice President also met with H.E. Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, who was also in Seychelles for the ceremony.​
5.       Call on with President: Hon’ble Vice President paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Patrick Herminie, President of the Republic of Seychelles, at the State House. During the meeting, he congratulated Dr. Herminie and extended an invitation from the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to visit India.​
6.       Meeting with Vice President: Hon’ble Vice President met Mr. Sebastien Pillay, Vice-President of the Republic of Seychelles. Both leaders discussed the multi-faceted India–Seychelles relationship, rooted in shared heritage, culture, and people-to-people ties. VP also conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure.
7.       The Hon’ble Vice President underscored the importance India attaches to its relationship with Seychelles under PM Modi’s vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions). Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in key areas including healthcare, education, energy, maritime security, and capacity building.​
8.       The visit highlights the deep, long-standing, and time-tested partnership between India and Seychelles, which share common values of democracy and pluralism. As the two nations approach the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations next year, India looks forward to working closely with the new Government of Seychelles to further expand and strengthen our bilateral partnership
