Business community of Seychelles attends the live screening of UPI launch in Mauritius and Sri Lanka.

Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi along with President of Sri Lanka H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister of Mauritius, H.E. Pravind Jugnauth witnessed the launch of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) Services in Sri Lanka and Mauritius and also Rupay Card Services in Mauritius. The launch will enable availability of UPI settlement services for Indian nationals traveling to Sri Lanka and Mauritius, as well as Mauritius nationals travelling to India. The extension of RuPay card services in Mauritius will enable Mauritius banks to issue cards based on RuPay mechanism in Mauritius and facilitate usage of RuPay card for settlements both in India and Mauritius.
India has emerged as a leader in fintech innovation and digital public infrastructure. Prime Minister Modi has placed a strong emphasis on sharing India’s development experience and innovations with partner countries. Today’s launch will benefit a wide cross-section of people through a faster and seamless digital transaction experience and enhance digital connectivity between the countries.
To know more about the utility and convenience of UPI enabled transactions and the role these could play in increasing tourism from India to Seychelles, today’s event was watched with great interest by the business community of Seychelles, at a live viewing event organized by the High Commission of India.
