INDIAN COAST GUARD SHIP 'SAKSHAM' VISITS PORT VICTORIA
Indian Coast Guard Ship Saksham, the Samarth-class of Indian Coast Guard successfully culminated OTR at Port Victoria, Seychelles from 12 March to 15 March.
2. During the port call, the Commanding Officer Deputy Inspector General Shatrujeet Singh paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism H.E. Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, Deputy Chief of Seychelles Defence Forces Brigadier General Jean Attala and the High Commissioner of India to Republic of Seychelles Mr Kartik Pande. In addition, the ship engaged with members of Indian Diaspora and local people through a Deck reception and Yoga session onboard the vessel.
3. ICGS Saksham is an offshore patrol vessel (OPV) based at Kochi, India. the vessel is designed to undertake Coastal and offshore Patrolling, Monitoring Sea Lines of Communication, EEZ surveillance, protection of offshore assets, Search and Rescue and carrying limited pollution response equipment to contain oil spill in the sea.
4. India and Seychelles share a cordial friendship. This short OTR illustrates the robust defence relations between India and Seychelles that are built on mutual trust and sharing of technical expertise for capacity building.
