Press Release - 72nd Republic Day of India celebrations at HCI Victoria, Seychelles

A flag hoisting ceremony to mark the 72nd Republic Day of India was held at the premises of the High Commission of India’s old chancery building at Mont Fleuri, Victoria at 9.30 AM on 26th January 2021 in the presence of High Commission officials. The number of guests was strictly limited to enforce tenets of social distancing in place in the spirit of respecting the sanitary norms laid down by the Government of Seychelles. 

2. High Commissioner Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag hoisted the national flag and delivered his address to the Indian diaspora in Seychelles which was broadcasted live on the social media accounts of High Commission of India. He spoke about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and India’s efforts to combat it, including the world’s largest vaccination programme launched by India recently. He explained Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat or self-reliant India and Indian efforts to support global economic recovery. He also informed that India has provided medical aid and supplied medicines and other pharmaceutical products to over 150 countries, including Seychelles during the height of the global pandemic.

Speaking about India-Seychelles bilateral relationship, he highlighted India’s developmental assistance to Seychelles and Indian donation of 50,000 Covishield vaccine to Seychelles to help combat COVID-19.
