India@75 : Painting Competition

Press Release: Painting competition and exhibition under India@75

          The High Commission of India in partnership with National Arts Council of Seychelles organized a painting competition under the ongoing India@75 – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The competition was launched on 7th April 2021 with the theme - India and Seychelles and ended on 30th May during which over 50 entries in various categories were received.

An exhibition of the paintings received is being held at the High Commission of India and a prize distribution ceremony for winners of the painting competition was organised at the High Commission of India on 22nd July 2021. The exhibition was organised as per the current guidelines of the Public Health Authority and keeping the social distancing norms in place.

The competition was judged jointly by National Arts Council and the Indian Association of Seychelles. NAC was assisted by renowned local artist and the Chairperson of SeyLar Federation Seychelles – Mr Danny Sopha. The Indian Association of Seychelles also sponsored the prizes for the professional artists category.

The High Commissioner of India to Seychelles, Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag handed over the prizes to the following winners.

3rd prize- Akriti Sinha

In his remarks, the High Commissioner explained that India will complete 75 years of independence in 2022 and therefore a two-year long celebration themed India at 75 – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is being organised world over including in Seychelles and this competition was a part of the same. He congratulated the winners and thanked National Arts Council and Indian Association of Seychelles for their support in organising the event. CEO of NAC Mr Jimmy Savy and Chairperson of Indian Association Mr Jamshed Pardiwalla were also present during the ceremony.
